Wonder-works is located beside an up-scale shopping and dining area in International Drive. We left allowing enough time to find somewhere to park, ended up in a traffic jam with what we thought were a few minutes to spare, dumped the car with a valet parker, ran a few hundred yards to wonder-works (simultaneously carrying and/or dragging several children), only to discover a multistory car park right beside wonder-works and a twenty minute wait to actually get in to the show.
Tickets advise you to get there half an hour before the show starts. Unless you are deeply concerned about sitting at the front, don’t bother being that early as they just make you wait until five minutes before the show to let you into the seating area. We were seated fairly near the back and we could still see the magician.
Orders were taken for drinks, which were then refilled on a regular basis throughout the show, and large salad platters and bowls of popcorn were on the table for you to help yourself to. Once everyone had their share of popcorn and salad, the pizzas appeared. These were also replaced promptly when plates were emptied. Once it was clear that everyone had their share, a small cake was served for dessert.
The show itself was really good, a good mix of comedy and magic – we did come away wondering how he did most of the tricks which I guess is a good thing! The $100 bill and lemon trick was particularly amazing! There was also a lot of audience participation which made it good fun. It was also entertaining enough for the kids to sit reasonably still throughout. If you do want to be picked on and get on stage, then do turn up early so you get to the front or make sure you shout really loudly when they ask for volunteers.
This isn’t the dinner show to go to if you want fine dining and posh surroundings but the food is nice enough and the show entertaining. Worth a visit!
